Whitetop 80% Costshare Program
The District is offering to provide herbicides to Big Horn County private landowners at an 80% costshare for treatments on whitetop.
Costshare Policies
-
Landowners may purchase select herbicides at the 80% costshare to apply themselves.
-
Landowners may also hire a private contractor to apply the herbicides. See below for a list of local commercial applicators who have given the District Permission to disclose their phone numbers.
-
Herbicide must be purchased at the District office and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis until stocks or funding are depleted.
-
Products offered are HighNoon, DuraCor, and Escort XP herbicides.
Application Guidelines
-
Apply Escort XP at a 1 oz./acre rate.
-
HighNoon or DuraCor may be tank mixed with Escort XP at a rate of 16 oz/acre for improved control.
-
Apply when whitetop plants are in the bud to blooming stages for the most effective control. Rosettes may also be treated in the early fall.
-
Use of a surfactant such as methylated seed oil or a nonionic surfactant is highly recommended.
-
Blue indicator die may also be used for spot treatments to avoid treating the same weeds multiple times.
-
Surfactants and dye may be purchased at the District office at full price.
